July 3 Worship Set

The Whole Story: Jesus - The Passion of Jesus

We continue through the Whole Story as we learn about the fulfillment of the promise of a Savior and celebrate the intersection of the Upper and Lower stories. Our relationship with God was broken because of the fall, and a Savior was needed to mend that brokenness and bring us back to communion with the Father. Just before He suffered and died, Jesus shared a meal with His disciples that He also invites us to share with Him. As we gather, we will partake in communion and learn about the significance of Jesus partaking in a meal that would foreshadow the cost He would pay. We will reflect on that cost and the ultimate love that was shown on the cross. We may never be able to fully grasp the power of that cross, but we can receive a glimpse of it through our time in partaking in communion and worship. Christ’s resurrection overcame death and gave us hope of everlasting life so we no longer have to fear. I Corinthians 15:54-57 says,

“Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death,

is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.   But thanks be to

God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

As we celebrate the power of the cross, we will lift our voices in praise and sing that forever He is glorified and forever He is to be lifted high. Forever He is risen for He is alive!
