The Whole Story: Broken Kingdom – Power – 1 Kings 17-18

Last week we looked at the danger of wanting more of the things in this world and not being fully satisfied in Him. One of the things that we can seek in excess is power. Power is a strange thing, that in the hands of the wrong people or the wrong motives, can be very dangerous. This week we'll be asking ourselves, are we seeking power for ourselves or are we seeking to live in the power of Christ?

As we gather together in worship, we need to recognize who is in control. The Lord our God is reigning on high. He always has been and He always will be. We sing, “Glory To God Forever” by Fee as we give Him all the glory for who He is and what He has done.

Knowing the pain and brokenness that we experience because of sin, He reached out in love and poured out His grace upon us, breaking the power of sin and darkness. We will rejoice in this through the song, ”This Is Amazing Grace” by Phil Wickham.

Through His great love for us along with His amazing grace, we can live out of the power of Christ in us to overcome strongholds and oppression. Romans 8 says that if our God is for us, who can be against us? No one. We will declare this in the song, “Our God” by Chris Tomlin.

Responding to the message, we want to proclaim the choice to follow after Him, through the hymn, “I Have Decided”. With the option to follow many others, including ourselves, will we make the choice to give all that we are and all that we have to follow after Him?
