January 3 Worship Set

This week, we will jump back into our journey of The Whole Story. When we left off, we saw God’s people wandering through the wilderness, yet they were afraid to take the new land. We saw God’s provision and blessings on them.

When we pick up, we will find them ready to enter the land. We will learn how different this land is and the people living in it.

As we consider this, we will take a look at God’s faithfulness to His people. His faithfulness in our past is key to our dependence upon Him in our present and our trust in Him for our future.

This week we will reflect on a song that speaks to this, “I Will Look Up” by Elevation Worship. The chorus says:

I will look up for there is none above you

I will bow down to tell you that I love you

Jesus Lord of all

I will look back and see that you are faithful

I look ahead believing you are able

Jesus Lord of all

Without belief that God is who He says He is, and remembrance of His faithfulness to His promises to us, it is hard for us to depend on Him now and trust Him for our futures, but when we do, and we are able to cast our cares on Him, we will have the peace that Paul writes of in Philippians 4:7, peace that transcends all understanding.

So as we enter into worship this weekend, I encourage you to fix your eyes on Him, and think of ways that He has remained faithful to you in the past, and let that stir in your heart to trust Him for the future. He is, in fact, a God who is greater than all others, and who is fighting for us.
