Upcoming Short Term Missions Trips

Martin, South Dakota (click for info)

Five Calvary families (totaling 14 people) will be in Martin, SD from June 28 through July 2. Martin is located in an extremely impoverished and underserved part of the United States right between two of the largest Indian reservations in South Dakota. The members of the Calvary mission team will be serving God by providing a three-day Kids Club for the children of the Martin area as well as through participation in a number of community work projects. The Kids Club is a ministry that demonstrates the love of Jesus to children through curriculum, playing games, making crafts, reading, and singing songs. The Work Projects will take place in and around the Martin area and will likely include painting houses, performing minor home repair, cleaning up debris, and upkeep of public areas (e.g., gardens, parks, etc.). The team is extremely excited to see what God has in store for Calvary in South Dakota.

Malawi, Africa (click for info)

God has clearly opened the door for Calvary to send this team to Malawi, Africa from June 26 – July 7 to minister to the needs of orphans and others. In the book of Matthew, Jesus implores his followers to care for the “least of these”, so they are going in answer to that calling. The children being helped are the unfortunate victims of HIV/AIDS and other tragic circumstances. This team will be conducting a Vacation Bible School program with the assistance of our African Bible College missionary partners, Steve and Marion Spencer. This is an opportunity to demonstrate to these kids, in very tangible ways, the good news of Jesus’s love. They will also be working with Save the Orphans Ministry in nearby villages. The team is busy assembling a variety of materials needed to take with them to conduct the ministry events being planned while in Malawi.

Saltillo, Mexico (click for info)

For many Christians, church camp holds a special place in their hearts as the location where they accepted Christ as their personal Savior. World Gospel Mission (WGM) is providing assistance to give the children and youth of Mexico that same opportunity through El Tunal Campground in the town of Saltillo. The facilities there are currently being transformed from a minimal usage camp to a year-round, multipurpose facility for retreats, trainings, youth camps, and community rentals. With that goal in mind, this mission team will work with WGM missionaries Bill and Lydia Allshouse on construction projects at the El Tunal Campground. The team will be in Mexico from July 11-19.

Waukegan, Illinois (click for info)

This family team will be going to the northern suburbs of Chicago July 18-25 to assist the work of missionaries Rod and Kathy Johnson as part of World Gospel Mission’s Hispanic Ministries-USA. The Johnsons are currently working with a Hispanic church (Iglesia Amistad y Vida) near Waukegan, Illinois. Their ministry involves teaching Bible, theology, and practical ministry courses to future leaders of Spanish-speaking churches. The Calvary mission team will assist the Johnson’s in conducting a Vacation Bible School for the community’s children.

Buckner International (click for info)

This team of families and individuals will be leaving July 30, bound for the Buckner International Warehouse in Dallas, Texas and returning on August 2. They will be pulling a trailer loaded with donated new shoes collected locally, and will then help sort and package those shoes for world-wide distribution to orphans.
Shoes for Orphan Souls is just one of the projects of Buckner International, a global Christian ministry that seeks justice for ‘the least of these’ by providing care and resources for orphans and at-risk children in the United States and more than 50 countries around the world. Through international orphanage support, humanitarian aid, short-term mission, foster care and adoption, Buckner has made a lasting impact in some of the world’s most poverty-stricken and socially desperate countries.

Altenburg, Germany (click for info)

As a result of our partnership with the Evangelical Free Church in Leipzig, Germany, this team will be traveling to Altenburg to assist with the church plant there. This mission team is still in its formative stages with the work of this trip continuing to be defined, but the current plan is to assist the Altenburg church with a tent outreach event aimed at ministering to the needs of the town’s citizens. The team will be in Germany from August 14 -24. Please pray that God would bring this team together and clearly direct its mission.

Honduras – Project Manuelito (click for info)

The Honduras Mission Team will be traveling August 29th thru September 6th to work at Project Manuelito in Honduras. Project Manuelito began when a church in the capital city of Tegucigalpa became burdened for the abandoned children living on the streets of Honduras. The rescued children are placed in a healthy “family type” environment, provided an education, shown the value of being productive citizens, and taught the message of God’s life-changing love. You can learn more about Project Manuelito at www.projectmanuelito.org.
The Calvary team will be working on the next phase of the project, which includes the construction of a second dorm building, kitchen-dining hall and administrative office. We will be laboring alongside some nationals in the construction aspect, and ministering to the children living at Manuelito by playing games and interacting with them all week. Many of our team members look forward to returning to assist with this work on an annual basis.
Please be praying for health and safety for our team, and that God would use us to build into the lives of the children at the Project.

Please pray these teams would:
